Shawn Jennings and the Southern Roots Band
Shawn Jennings and the Southern Roots Band have been burning up the Texas dance halls and honky tonks for the last few years with their own brand of music. Country, rock and even bluegrass find their way into songs penned by Shawn Jennings, lead singer and songwriter. With their debut CD release in December 2003, the band has received radio airplay across Texas and some overseas. The song "Emily" still fills the dance floors, as does the title track "I need A Margarita".

Now with the release of their second album entitled "Broken Wings", the band shows the growth and maturity that will take them to the next level. The first single "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend", hits the airwaves October 2005. This song captures the rich vocals, tight harmonies and honest music that the band has become known for.

The Southern Roots Band has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with artists such as Tommy Alverson, Jason Allen, Sonny Burgess, The Bellamy Brothers, Mark Chestnut, Earl Thomas Conlee and Aaron Watson.

Unlike most musicians in the music business today who start playing and singing as soon as they are old enough to walk, Shawn did not really get into music until his early 20's. He spent most of his youth hunting, fishing and riding bulls. After marrying his high school sweetheart Hollie, his spurs were hung up and traded for a guitar. Many a nights were spent around a campfire in the Texas hill country playing to friends into the wee hours of the night. Songwriting seemed to come natural as he could take something that people go through everyday and have a different perspective that people could really understand and relate to.

Soon his songwriting caught the ear of some talented local bluegrass musicians who helped him grow as a musician himself. The sing along parties also started growing until people were offering to pay to listen. The Southern Roots Band was formed and has been going strong for the last several years. They released their first CD in December 2003 and the second to be released September 2005. A blend of rock, country and bluegrass all inspire Shawn's songwriting and musical taste with an honesty that is seldom heard in some of todays music.

Shawn and Hollie are the proud parents of two inspiring, singing daughters; LeAnn and Emily. Information courtesy of SouthernRootsBand.com.
