Burgundy Band

Zeke Escobedo, a San Antonio local, is the leader and founder of Burgundy. He started his first band, The Harlem's at 15 years old. Zeke spent time in New Mexico where he played with members of Jimmy Gilmore and the Fireballs.
On his return to San Antonio, he played with various local groups, including a 20 piece orchestra, as well as 10 years with internationally known Rene and Rene. Zeke formed Burgundy in 1989 with his son Mike (see below). He credits his musical influence growing up listening to Hank Williams, Buck Owens and Marty Robbins.
Mike Escobedo, raised in San Antonio is one of the original members of Burgundy, starting the band in 1989 with his dad, Zeke. He started playing the drums at age 3, later moving on to guitar and keyboards.
Mike took a break from Burgundy and toured the U.S. for 8 months with the band Desert Wind. His musical influence is derived from growing up listening to a variety of music ranging from Jazz, R&B, Country and Rock.
When Mike's not playing music, he spends his time running his Door Business (A+ Door & Service Co.)
Luis Ortiz is a San Antonio native and a self taught musician. Luis learned to sing harmony while listening to the radio with his brother. “I didn’t even know it was harmony then, I was just doing the ‘other’ voice”, Ortiz laughs. In addition to being an accomplished musician and vocalist; Ortiz authored the band Culturas’ mega hits “Besame” and “Ay Mama”. His smooth vocal style and grassroots guitar playing made his transition into Burgundy seamless.
Mickey Scott is the newest member to join Burgundy. Mickey was raised in the Pacific NW and began playing at 14,first band at age 15 playing ever since. Played in a variety of bands playing rock, oldies, blues and country. Traveled extensively in club bands covering 25 states,4 provinces and 5 countries. Played throughout the west, Midwest, Canada and Pacific Rim (Korea, Japan, Philippines) playing for Air Force Troops. Now based in Texas having fun playing with Burgundy.
Dave Goodman, is one of the recognized pedal steel guitar players in the San Antonio region, and can double on the lead guitar as well. Dave is adept at many genres of music (country, pop, rock, and Tejano) and is a very valuable asset to the variety of music offered by Burgundy.
Dave's experience goes back to early 1980's until now during which he has played with several local and regional bands, including first place finishes in the San Antonio Rodeo battle of the bands competition.
