Come join the fun as Bandera Business Association holds its 16th annual RIVERFEST on the banks of the beautiful Medina River. Wear your swim suit and bring your tube, you won't want to miss the opportunity of floating in one of the cleanest, clearest rivers in Texas. RiverFest is Bandera's way of CELEBRATING SUMMER!!
COME CHILL ON THE RIVER! . Try your hand at the River Rodeo! That's right, this is the Cowboy Capital of the World, we have to have a rodeo! Enter the tube roping or the bronc riding. Think you can stay on 8 seconds? You haven't ridden a steed like Firestone or Goodyear. Not too good at rodeo sports? That's okay - enter the kayak races. We'll even provide the kayak! Bring Fido, we have a great water fetching contest for your dog. See…something for the whole family!
Bring all the kids' cause there will be plenty for them to do. Lots of children's activities, in the water or out! Try their hand at fishing or maybe a paddleboat ride! Enter the watermelon eating contest or hot dog eating contest. Slide down the GIANT Slip N SLIDE, or enter the wheel barrel races or the Frisbee throwing.
All this activity will sure to make you hungry so mosey on over to the food booths where you will find the best picnic fare on the river! Plenty to choose from and lots of entertainment while you eat too!
One of the featured events for the 2013 Riverfest is our search for the best singer in Bandera and surrounding Counties. That’s right, we are looking for the new “Bandera Idol”. Get your vocal cords ready and select your music, competition will be fun! The winner will get to do some special singing appearances in and around Bandera!
If relaxing is your thing, you will love RiverFest; plenty of shade and some great music. Hang around the Medina River Watering Hole for a cold beer, great food and featured singers. Browse through our excellent selection of Arts and Craft Booths, each selected from a juried show for their skill and craftsmanship, or venture into the information and exhibit area. Stroll through our Open Car Show and Swap meet. Wow, cars from all over! You won’t believe your eyes! Just down the way will be even more fun in the Riverfest Cook-off. Teams of cookers will be doing their best riverside bar-b-cueing techniques to win the coveted prize as Best Brisket Cooker. If all this isn't enough, get ready for the “GREAT HILL COUNTRY ANYTHING THAT FLOATS REGATTA”! Don't miss this infamous parade that will keep you laughing as the creative entries make their way down the Medina River competing for the FIRST prize. There will be prizes for the fastest, slowest, most western, silliest, and best entry from a local business. No fee to enter the Regatta! Come join the competition and show us what you've got that floats!
